Job summary The Kent Interventional Radiology Centre, a purpose-built unit at the Kent and Canterbury site, fitted with the latest Siemens Artis Pheno angiography system with robotic assistance, full anaesthetic facilities and a dedicated 6-bedded Day Case Unit opened in May 2022. The unit supports the regional reconfiguration of Vascular services.It runs alongside a hybrid Endovascular Theatre which has been fully refurbished and updated with a Siemens Artis system. The Trust plans to open a third imaging suite, fitted with a Siemens Icono unit, by June 2024 in order to support the delivery of the regional Stroke Thrombectomy service. The Radiology department is a large and successful department with 5 CT scanners and 5 MRI scanners with mobile MRI and CT increasing capacity further. The Trust has recently introduced two SPECT/CT units in Nuclear Medicine. Main duties of the job This post is for an Interventional Radiologist with specialised training in Vascular and Non-Vascular Radiology, including EVAR and peripheral intervention. There is a thriving practice in non-oncological embolotherapy including uterine artery embolization, prostate artery embolization, varicocele embolization and treatment of pelvic congestion. There is an ongoing consultation process for the centre to become the hub for a Kent wide Vascular network which would bring many opportunities to develop special clinical and research interests.
