My Client is recruiting for a 3D CAD Technician / Designer in the Water Sector JOB ROLE: To create high-quality 3D models & detailed technical drawings and plans for projects. MAIN DUTIES: Production of plant and pipework 3D Models in AutoCAD Plant 3D Responsibility for the preparation & production of General Arrangement, Sub Arrangement and Detailed drawings including manufacturing standard pipework isometrics / orthographic drawings from AutoCAD Plant 3D Assistance in preparation of AutoCAD Plant 3D Catalogues To prepare and ensure the design and layout integrity of flow and intelligent P&I diagrams To support process details / design to projects Take initiative to identify and deal with errors, snags, Site feedback & other issues To maintain good communication & liaison links between the manager, other members of the Engineering team, all other departments, as well as outside organisations Liaising with site personnel, subcontractors & clients as required by the contract To show initiative in the absence of the manager and members of the team in their respective roles in prioritising correspondence / telephone calls to ensure urgent matters are brought to the attention of appropriate colleagues To work within & maintain existing filing systems & procedures To assist in CAD support for the Proposals Department during tender stage if required To ensure the appropriate & timely distribution of correspondence, circulars, reports etc. as applicable To deal sensitively with people, situations and confidential material To carry out site visits (normally with others) to survey new & existing sites & equipment To carry out any other reasonable requests by the Engineering Manager QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: AutoCAD 2D & 3D Plant Modelling & Drafting experience AutoDESK Vault file management AutoCAD Plant 3D Intelligent P&IDs Relevant engineering and technical knowledge Knowledge of British Standards, water industry specification preferred, process industry design Some knowledge of specialist tools; piping systems, FE Analysis, risk tools, modelling Usage of Document Management Systems (ProjectWise or other) not essential A good knowledge of materials, coatings and finishes including stainless and carbon steels, structural steels, elastomers and performance plastics Knowledge of manufacturing processes; machining, welding, surface treatments etc. Be able to communicate effectively regarding matters of a technical nature to customers Experience working with bespoke systems / machine design and manufacture Design of electro-mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics or associated supply Driving license desirable but not essential CSCS card desirable but not essential PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: The successful candidate is likely to display the following attributes: Good Communicator - Influence a positive outcome in terms of driving the mechanical output.
