Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Newport. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the educational journey of pupils aged 11–16, by providing tailored support to students with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), physical disabilities, complex needs, behavioural challenges, and speech and language difficulties.
This position is ideal for individuals who are patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting the holistic development of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and the senior leadership team to maintain an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with special educational needs, addressing individual learning barriers.
Deliver and adapt pre-planned learning activities in line with each pupil’s specific educational and emotional requirements.
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence among pupils.
Support classroom organisation by assisting with lesson preparation, resource management, and display creation.
Adhere to the school’s safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour management policies at all times.
Candidate Requirements

Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs (desirable but not mandatory).
