Status: Full-time, fixed term contract
Salary: £50,000 pro-rata, per annum
Closing date: Monday 21st April 2025, 5pm
After 17 years of exceptional leadership, our founding Artistic Director, Peter Higgin, will be stepping down later this year. We are now seeking a bold and inspiring new Artistic Director to lead the next chapter of Punchdrunk Enrichment – someone who will honour Peter’s legacy while bringing fresh ideas, creative ambition, and new partnerships.
As Artistic Director, you will provide artistic leadership and vision across our work, with a strong focus on young people, families, schools, and communities. You will be passionate about the potential of immersive practice to empower, inspire, and transform lives. Comfortable leading a process from concept to performance, presenting to funders and partners, and nurturing a team – you’ll be a dynamic creative leader with a deep belief in the power of collaborative working.
This is a role for someone as comfortable speaking with a headteacher as they are directing in a tech rehearsal. You’ll be driven by bringing out the best in others – whether that’s our small, committed core team or our brilliant network of freelancers. You’ll also be a thoughtful decision-maker who can balance creative and organisational needs, and lead with clarity through moments of challenge and change.
Working closely with the Executive Director as Co-CEO, you’ll share responsibility for the organisation’s strategic direction, financial stability, and long-term impact. You’ll take the lead on developing and delivering an ambitious and inclusive artistic programme that keeps Punchdrunk Enrichment at the forefront of immersive practice.
We are looking for an artist with a strong track record of socially engaged work and creative leadership. There’s no single path into this role, and you don’t need to tick every box – but we’re looking for someone with clear potential, deep commitment, and the imagination and drive to lead us into the future.
If you wish to apply for the position, please provide the following information:
1. A comprehensive CV.
2. A covering letter (maximum two A4 sides) OR three minutes of audio describing your suitability for the position and specifically how your past experience matches the job description and person specification.
3. Contact details for two references; we will seek your permission before making direct contact with any referees. It is likely that we will contact one referee as part of the process prior to making an offer.
4. Your telephone number.
5. A completed equal opportunity form.
If you have any questions or would like an informal conversation about the role, please contact rebecca@punchdrunkenrichment.org.uk. Rebecca is working independently to support the recruitment process – all conversations are confidential and will not affect the outcome of your application.
