The Fitch Company has an excellent opportunity for a full-time/permanent Electrical Drafter. This position is in-person, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as required based on project timelines. The candidate has the location option of either Gray or Rumford, ME. If you are a self-motivated, critical thinker with great communication skills, this position may be for you. You do not need drafting experience, but preference will be given to those with AutoCAD skills. Competitive starting salary based on qualifications and relevant experience.
Responsibilities of the Electrical Drafter include but are not limited to:
1. Utilize computer-aided drafting, design software, and various other computer software packages in the preparation of electrical drawings.
2. Translate sketches and markups into properly documented drawings (including schematics, wiring diagrams, AC & DC single line diagrams, arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, and bill of materials).
3. Direction will be in the form of verbal and written instructions, marked prints, and sketches.
4. Coordinate drawing development to meet project schedules.
5. Identify errors, problems, or non-standard situations and suggest alternatives.
6. Document control management tasks.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred but will train the right candidate.
2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
3. Detail-oriented with strong listening and communication skills.
4. The ability to work in a team environment or independently.
5. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
7. Must be open to occasional overnight travel should a need arise.
Physical Requirements but are not limited to:
1. Must be able to sit (or work at a sit/stand station) for 90% of the workday.
2. Must be able to use a mouse and keyboard.
3. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40-pound paper rolls to load into wide format plotter.
4. Must be able to read drawings.
5. Must be able to handle and organize large format drawings (24”x36”).
6. Must be able to operate typical office equipment, copier, phone, etc.
Other physical requirements that are periodic and dependent on the nature of the project if required to go to client site:
1. Stand/walk on concrete surfaces for long periods of time, as required for drawing field verification.
2. Climb stairs.
3. Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
4. Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
5. See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
