Job Description
The Sales Controller is responsible for financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the sales organization. This role serves as a critical business partner to Sales leadership, providing data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making, optimize sales performance, and ensure financial integrity across sales operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and manage sales forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes
2. Analyze sales performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
3. Create and maintain dashboards and reports to track KPIs and communicate sales metrics to stakeholders
4. Partner with Sales leadership to develop pricing strategies and evaluate sales initiatives
5. Monitor sales expenses against budget and highlight variances
6. Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes
7. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other departments to ensure alignment
8. Provide financial analysis for sales compensation plans and territory assignments
9. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial controls and efficiency
Qualifications
Essential
1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
2. 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, controlling, or similar role
3. Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
4. Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools
5. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-financial audiences
7. Knowledge of financial planning and analysis methodologies
Highly Desirable
1. Master's degree in Finance, MBA, or related field
2. CPA, CMA, or other relevant financial certification
3. Experience in sales operations or sales finance
4. Knowledge of CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce)
5. Experience in the industry relevant to the hiring company
6. Understanding of sales compensation structures and incentive programs
7. Previous experience working with sales teams in a business partnering capacity
