Are you a skilled and dedicated Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable children and their families? This role involves working with children, young people, and families to complete statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989. You will play a key role in identifying risks, needs, and appropriate interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people.
As a Social Worker in the CAAS Team, you will carry out initial and in-depth assessments, working closely with multi-agency partners, including health professionals, education providers, and safeguarding teams. You will need strong analytical skills to assess complex family dynamics, child protection concerns, and safeguarding risks, ensuring appropriate support is in place.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Undertake comprehensive child and family assessments to determine risks, strengths, and needs.
* Complete Single Assessments within statutory timescales, ensuring timely interventions.
* Work with children and families to develop and implement support plans that promote positive outcomes.
* Identify when cases require escalation to Child Protection, Children in Need, or Early Help services.
* Work in partnership with health, education, police, and other agencies to ensure effective information-sharing and decision-making.
* Participate in strategy meetings, Child Protection Conferences, and multi-agency reviews.
* Identify child protection risks and take necessary action in line with statutory safeguarding procedures.
* Provide reports for court proceedings when required, ensuring high standards of professional practice.
* Ensure compliance with Children’s Services policies, Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), and Social Work England standards.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, assessments, and reports.
* Work within a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, ensuring interventions are child-centred and family-focused.
Requirement of the Social Worker:
* Qualifications: A recognised Social Work degree (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent)
* Registration: Current registration with Social Work England
* Experience: Previous experience in children’s services, particularly in assessment, intervention, or safeguarding roles
* Knowledge: A strong understanding of UK child protection legislation, safeguarding procedures, and relevant frameworks for assessment and intervention
* Skills: Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex cases and work effectively under pressure
* Other: A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are desirable
