Purpose Statement:
Join our Quality team at our Kelso facility, with the opportunity to support our Livingston location during peak periods, as a Supplier Quality Engineer. We are seeking a highly motivated and meticulous individual to champion our Zero Defect Strategy. This on-site role is crucial for ensuring the quality and compliance of all incoming raw materials and services, demanding a hands-on approach and direct interaction with parts. You will be the voice of quality, collaborating with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to drive excellence.
Key Job Accountabilities:
* Supplier Qualification & Management: Conduct rigorous supplier evaluations, audits, and performance management, including corrective and preventive actions.
* Part Qualification: Lead robust part qualification processes, including PPAP, ensuring strict adherence to customer and internal quality standards.
* Quality Mindset & Compliance: Uphold uncompromising quality standards, ensuring all parts meet compliance requirements.
* Data Analysis & Statistical Methods: Apply statistical methods to analyze data, identify trends, and drive informed decisions.
* Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Utilize 8D, 5Ys, and RCA methodologies to effectively resolve supplier quality issues.
* Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively within a diverse team and communicate effectively with suppliers and customers to drive issue resolution.
* Autonomous Operation: Work independently, making sound decisions based on data and requirements, while maintaining a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
* Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (WIs).
* IT Proficiency: Quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software.
Requirements:
* On-Site Presence: This is a strictly on-site role in Kelso, requiring physical interaction with parts.
* Location flexibility: Must be able to support the Livingston facility during peak periods.
* Quality Mindset: Unwavering commitment to quality and compliance, with a strong character that does not cut corners.
* Team Collaboration: Enthusiastic and motivated team player, able to integrate into a dynamic and diverse team.
* Attention to Detail: Methodical and organized, ensuring tasks are completed accurately the first time.
* Statistical Analysis: Ability to apply statistical methods and interpret data.
* Communication Skills: Confident and effective communication skills for customer and supplier engagements.
* Autonomous Work: Ability to work unsupervised and make sound decisions.
* Root Cause Analysis Experience: Proven experience with 8D, 5Ys, and Root Cause Analysis.
* IT Proficiency: Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software.
Desired (Non-Essential) Skills/Experience:
* Manufacturing Experience (Strongly Desired).
* FMEA, PPAP, and APQP experience.
* Part qualification experience (part measurement and review of supporting data).
* Supplier/Process Auditor experience.
* CMM experience.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Education/Experience Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
* Proven experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949 preferred).
