We are seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder with a positive attitude to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our new northern manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for assembling and fabricating metal components to create high-quality, bespoke Architectural window solutions. This is a hands-on role that requires expertise in welding techniques and the ability to read and interpret drawings. You will have high standards and a keen eye for detail.
You will be working on some of the most prestigious projects in the UK with our recently completed works being the new visitors centre at Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the Chelsea Pensioners.
You will be working with a company who are leading the way, with the glazing systems we offer in the UK. This job will give you pride with the types of projects we complete, our director has always said that when he started out as an assembly technician, the job gave him great pride because it "wasn't a standard job" and it was a pleasure seeing the units we made, go into some of the UK's most iconic buildings.
Duties:
* Fabricate/Weld, assemble and finish metal components (Steel, Stainless Steel, Corten Steel, Brass)
* Using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
* Read and interpret drawings, and specifications
* Measure and mark dimensions
* Cut, shape, and bend various metals using various techniques
* Weld components together using TIG.
* MIG for general fabrication if needed.
* Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet standards
* Maintain a clean and organized work area
* Flexible attitude to work
* Assist with assembly when required and other reasonable duties
Qualifications:
* Experience with architectural window systems such as Secco, Jansen, Forster or similar is desirable but not essential.
* Strong mechanical knowledge and a strong understanding of fabrication/Welding processes
* Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and specifications
* Math skills for measuring and calculating dimensions
* Previous experience in welding is required
* Grinding and cleaning own work to a good standard, training to be given.
* Able to work to tight tolerances
* Good problem solving skills
* Team player
* No requirement for coded welding qualifications.
* Full training to be given on the glazing systems we use by our senior welder in house.
This position would suit someone who has worked with materials of 1mm to 3mm thick in a ducting or sheet metal background.
