Our Oxford Health Pharmacy team is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Pharmacy Team as a Ward Based Pharmacy Assistant working across our Community Hospitals inpatient wards (South Oxfordshire).
This is a brand-new role for our Oxford Health Pharmacy team so you will need to be enthusiastic, highly motivated, keen to learn, proactive, adaptable and have excellent communication skills.
The role will involve working as part of established Medicines Management team at ward level. The team consists of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants, you will be working alongside the wider multidisciplinary team which includes Nurses, Medics and Clerical staff and you will be involved in contributing to patient care.
The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.
You will undertake general pharmaceutical duties under the supervision of a line Manager or deputy, assisting in the provision of a safe and effective Pharmacy service in line with current policies, procedures and legal requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Working in clinical areas, working within our stores area and in our Dispensaries.
2. Developing your Pharmacy skills whilst working to clinical standards and helping to optimise the services provided by Oxford Health.
3. Working within patient services undertaking medicines management duties on the wards, improving the quality of care to patients in a clinical area by means of an efficient medicines optimisation system.
4. Assessing patients' own medicines ensuring they are suitable for use in hospital.
5. Maintaining and ordering non-stock medicines for patients.
This post would be suitable for anybody who has previous Pharmacy experience, including Community Pharmacy experience and looking to transition to hospital Pharmacy, or anybody looking for a new challenge and is keen to learn and work within a dedicated team. Full appropriate training will be provided.
It is expected that the post holder will undertake in-depth training and obtain a QCF level 2 in Pharmacy services unless they already hold a relevant qualification.
Experience of working in a pharmaceutical related or hospital environment would be an advantage however full training will be provided in the department.

What we need from you!
1. To provide daily support to the Medicines Management Team including assessing patients' own medicines ensuring they are suitable for use in hospital and maintaining and ordering non-stock medicines for patients.
2. Supporting with Admission and Discharge medicines.
3. Dispense medications for In-patients, Out-patients and for patients being discharged home.
4. To assist with stock management by generating and receipting orders, and supply stock to Oxford Health sites.
