REPORTING LINE – PARTNER

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
* With new and exciting client mandates, our high performing Construction team is looking for a 5 PQE + lawyer to join our expanding Manchester practice.
* You will act for a number of FTSE 100 and local clients, supporting a variety of non-contentious construction work including construction and projects.
* We provide first-class, technical insight and training and are looking for an enthusiastic team member who wants to build their long-term career with us and become a well-rounded lawyer providing quality, commercial advice for our clients.
THE TEAM:
* The Real Estate Division is one of Addleshaw Goddard's largest, comprising a team in excess of 250. Within Construction nationally, there are 24 partners (6 of which are based in Manchester) and more than 100 other fee earners.
* The Manchester construction team's specialist experience combined with their commerciality, great relationships and innovation are the reason that they remain ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers as the leading practice in the North West region.
* The team advises on every aspect of Construction Law across all sectors of the industry, both contentious and non-contentious. The work of the group is hugely varied and includes buildings, civil and process plant engineering, energy, infrastructure and utilities - across both private and public sectors. The team also provides project support and advice to our wider Real Estate, Banking and Projects teams.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE:
* You will support a wide variety of construction work from advising government bodies, sponsors, funders, developers, employers, operators, constructors, sub-contractors and professional teams in relation to project procurement techniques (including facilities management) and dispute avoidance and resolution mechanisms.
* Working closely with existing clients to maintain and develop relationships, acting as a trusted advisor capable of providing timely and quality advice whilst managing expectations.
* Working collaboratively as a cohesive team, to execute large-scale, high-value, client matters to the highest standard.
* This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with a strong reputation for providing associates with early levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment and therefore you can expect to take a leading role on matters. At this stage in your career the team will take a genuine interest and support you with your development therefore offering excellent career prospects.
* You will be assisting in the drafting of and advising clients on a range of construction issues and documentation including consultant appointments, warranties, construction and development contracts, in a range of sectors including living, office, retail, life sciences, energy industrials and transport.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
You will have:
* At least 5 years+ experience within Construction matters, seeking a new challenge with a non – contentious focus.
* Enthusiasm, resilience, and ambition to find solutions to clients' legal challenges and requirements.
* Confidence in stakeholder management, with evidenced experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
* A consultative and thorough approach to tasks.
* Efficient diary and task management across a range of matters, ensuring the accuracy and levels of client service expected within a high performing team.
* Confidence in drafting clear and legally effective documents, which reflect the client's instructions.
* Ability to remain calm and optimistic in time-sensitive situations or under pressure.
* Enthusiasm about the development of your legal skill set and continuous learning.
* An inquisitive nature and desire to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.
