Main duties of the job
We are looking for enthusiastic and career-driven Neonatal Nurses who wish to develop their managerial skills whilst delivering high-quality care to the population of babies we serve. We are looking for established band 6 nurses or senior band 5 nurses who wish to develop into a band 6 role with excellent support from our resident practice development nurse and ward manager, to join our supportive team. The Unit is proud of providing the highest quality of care to babies and their families and receives amazing feedback from the families we care for.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your expertise, leadership, and managerial skills, and is ideal for a nurse who is flexible, enthusiastic, and passionate about caring for sick babies and families. It is essential that you have excellent clinical and communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to assess, plan and manage the care of babies in conjunction with families and the multidisciplinary team.
You should have substantial experience as a neonatal nurse, following completion of a neonatal specialist qualification and be an NLS provider. You should possess an NMC registered mentor and assessing qualification and have some management experience.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To support the Senior Sister to manage a team of nurses ensuring the delivery, development and maintenance of high standards of nursing care.
* To take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the clinical area.
* To take the lead for specific areas of professional practice as delegated by the Senior Sister.
* To deputise for the Senior Sister in their absence.
* Management of preceptorship of newly qualified staff, return to nursing staff and the mentorship of nursing students and health care support workers.

Experience and Knowledge
* Relevant post-registration from specialist Neonatal course
* Current professional clinical experience
* Ability to successfully manage people and change
* A knowledgeable clinician with the ability to apply evidence-based practice
* A good insight into management and structure of Neonatal networks
* A sound knowledge of professional policies and procedures
* Knowledge of clinical governance & a commitment to clinical supervision and staff development
