Job summary We are looking for a new member of staff to join our R&D team. UK National External Quality Assessment Service (NEQAS) is an impartial, independent, and self-financing expert centre for the provision of external quality assessment (EQA) for all aspects of Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory testing. UK NEQAS Haematology and Blood Transfusion deliver a diverse and extensive programme of EQA services and advice to over 1400 participating laboratories in the UK and worldwide. The Haematology and Blood Transfusion services are operated by West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and the unit is based in a bespoke unit designed and built specifically for our use in the Croxley Business Park in Watford which has regular lunchtime activities, on-site gym and childcare facilities and a free shuttle bus from the local stations. The unit consists of approximately 30 people, which includes 12 Haematology staff, 6 Blood Transfusion staff, and the remainder who work in the joint Receipt & Dispatch (R&D), Administration, and IT teams. The working hours for the post are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 am to 17:30 pm. Main duties of the job The post holder will carry out office and laboratory work, ranging from data entry to assisting with the preparation, organisation and packing of EQA material for distribution. The post holder will assist in resolving issues with deliveries whilst liaising with members of staff within UK NEQAS, the postal and courier services. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is keen to learn new technical skills alongside using and developing your practical, analytical, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to adapt to changes at short notice in a dynamic environment and have an ability to work to deadlines.
