A fantastic opportunity has arisen within respiratory medicine for a nurse to work within the 'respiratory virtual ward'. They which will be based within respiratory medicine at the CITY campus, NUH. You will be working alongside another band 6 nurse, and a band 3 administrator.
Virtual wards support patients to get the care, monitoring and support they need, from a hospital without actually being in a physical bed, in the hospital facilitating early discharge.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday. Will also be expected to support RAU/the SDEC as needs if patients require readmission/reescalation into the hospital setting.

The successful candidate will work alongside our community colleagues and hospital respiratory MDT colleagues to: identify suitable patients, facilitate early discharge, contribute to the virtual ward MDT, make the links with the community and then follow up accordingly. They will be the point of contact for the respiratory virtual ward at the hospital.

You will be working with the small but already established virtual ward team with our community virtual ward colleagues to help lead and support this new service.
The successful candidate should be motivated and have the ability to inspire staff and have previous experience and evidence of implementing changes and embedding good practise into the culture of our department. It is essential that you are able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to support the development of the respiratory service. The successful applicant needs to have excellent organisational and time management skills with an aptitude for problem solving. You must have excellent clinical knowledge and skills, demonstrated through completion of competency packages. You will need to be a good communicator, be self-motivated, provide high standards of clinical skills and have the ability to influence and drive innovative practice within a face growing and exciting speciality setting.
