Job summary
We are a GP owned company created to enhance the delivery of healthcare services to people living in Southport and Formby. Our services are provided locally, meaning fewer visits to large, busy hospitals and faster treatment in a convenient location. We're also flexible, offering extended hours access to a 7-Day GP Service during evenings and weekends recognising that sometimes getting to a daytime appointment just isn't possible.
The Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the assessment of health and clinical needs of the patient. To undertake consultations with patients as an autonomous practitioner using advanced clinical practice skills, own clinical judgement to diagnose, treat, refer, or discharge patients.
The post is a casual one whereby shifts are requested and allocated via an app-based rota system. We are currently looking for an Advanced Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join the 7-Day GP Service team who are flexible to work from 5pm in the evenings between Monday to Friday and throughout the weekend during the daytime.
Main duties of the job
The main duties include but are not limited to;
* Undertake consultations with patients taking a comprehensive patient history, carry out physical examination use their expert knowledge and clinical judgement to identify the potential diagnosis
* Exercise a higher degree of personal and professional autonomy using advanced clinical practice skills to include clinical interventions
* Refer patients for investigations when necessary/appropriate
* Make a final diagnosis, decide on and carry out treatment, including the prescribing of medicine or referral to primary or secondary care specialist services within local agreed pathways and protocols as appropriate
* Ensure that all treatments and care provided are based on best practice/evidence-based care
* Plan and provide skilled competent care to meet the patients health and social care needs, involving other members of the healthcare team as appropriate
* Work with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams in order to ensure patient needs are met
* Asses and evaluate, with the patient, the effectiveness of the treatment and care provided and make changes as needed
* Use independent/supplementary prescribing skills for benefits of patient care
* Work independently and as part of the 7-Day GP Service team

* Non-medical independent/supplementary Nurse prescriber V300
* MSc in Advanced Practice
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working in a mental health setting or a strong interest/experience of dealing with patients with mental health issues
* Ability to motivate others by influencing and inspire others in new enhanced ways of working
* Ability to work autonomously
* Strong leadership and a shared vision for better care
* Ability to use the EMIS Clinical System used within local primary care
* Highly developed interpersonal skills, negotiation, conflict management, feedback, partnership working, and coaching skills
* Ability to communicate with stakeholders and convey complex messages to different recipient groups
* Able to develop effective and mutually supportive relationships with key partners within and without organisations
* Strong intellectual, strategic, and systemic thinking skills, with the ability to think creatively and laterally to achieve outcomes
* Ability to recover and recuperate quickly from difficult or challenging situations.

* Has the ability following clinical assessment, to prescribe appropriately within professional competency and to review effectiveness of treatment within the four pillars of Advanced Practice
* Demonstrates high level of competence in clinical examination and diagnostic skills
* Demonstrate safe and effective prescribing within own competency
* Interpret pathology/radiology results/reports and action where appropriate
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, provide enhanced discussions with patients
* Embed the core NMC values and expectations of care, compassions, courage, communication, commitment, and competence into everyday practice.
