Port of Blyth is recruiting for an Assistant Engineer.
The Role:
We are looking for an Assistant Engineer to provide support to our Engineering and Technical department. The position will ideally suit a candidate with experience of working in an engineering or construction environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Preparation of drawings for proposals, project, construction and general engineering works.
2. Specification and supervision of construction and engineering works.
3. Carry out inspections and surveys of Port infrastructure.
4. Preparation of reports and documents.
5. Management of records and asset database.
Key Requirements:
1. Experience of working in an engineering or construction role.
2. Experience of preparing 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
3. Experience of working with or supervising contractors.
4. Technical aptitude.
5. Good IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
6. Good communication (written and verbal).
7. Good team worker, able to contribute to a dynamic group.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
1. BTech Level 4 HNC in Engineering discipline or working toward a level 5/6 qualification.
2. GCSE Grade 6 maths and Grade 5 in English language.
3. AutoCAD experience.
4. Full driving licence.
Desirable:
1. HND or Degree in an engineering discipline.
2. Two years' experience working in an engineering or construction environment.
Remuneration:
Annual Salary £30k - £40k Depending on experience and qualifications.
37.5 hours per week.
25 days holiday + statutory holidays.
