Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer - Quality Assurance & Design
Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer to ensure the highest standards in design, installation, inspection, and testing. In this role, you'll be responsible for validating designs and specifications with a focus on environmental influences, routing efficiency, purpose suitability, and health & safety risk elimination. Your expertise will drive the production of detailed equipment schedules and electrical schematics for renewable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all design specifications and documentation meet quality standards, including initial, planning, draft, detailed, construction, and single-line diagrams. Incorporate environmental factors, effective routing, and risk mitigation (health & safety) into design processes.
2. Technical Development:
Develop equipment schedules and electrical schematics for renewable and electrical systems. Interpret and analyze pre-construction data and client specifications to inform design solutions. Utilize design risk assessments and value engineering to optimize safety, cost, and time efficiency.
3. Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with Sales, Commercial, Construction, O&M, and Procurement teams, offering technical support from both office and on-site locations as required. Liaise with clients, consultants, and third-party contractors, participating in start-up meetings, site visits, and design consultations. Mentor junior engineers, assist with cable calculations, and review technical documentation.
4. Continuous Improvement:
Stay up to date with the latest technologies, industry best practices, and innovations. Contribute creative solutions and improvements to existing design processes.
Technical Skills & Software Proficiency:
1. Essential:
Proficient in AutoCAD 2D/3D for electrical design. Strong background in electrical and renewable systems.
2. Desirable:
Experience with PVCase, PVSol, PVSyst, and Inverter/Mounting kit design software. Competence with cable calculation software.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent (modern apprenticeship/HND acceptable).
2. Recognized Electrical Design Qualification (desirable).
3. Solid on-site experience in installation, surveying, maintenance, or design.
4. In-depth understanding of BS7671 (18th Edition Amendment 3), BS8888, and other relevant British Standards.
5. Familiarity with CDM regulations.
6. Proven leadership ability with excellent communication skills for report writing, presentations, and client engagements.
7. Strong mathematical aptitude and proficiency in Microsoft 365.
8. Full UK Driver's License.
