Pre Assessment Sister/Charge Nurse London: The Wellington Hospital ( Platinum Medical Centre) Full time: 37.5 hours per week Shift times: Monday -Friday (9-5) Permanent contract Salary: Competitivedependent on experience plus benefits An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated nurse to join our team as the Pre Assessment Sister, at The Platinum Medical Centre ( The Wellington Hospital). You will work closely with our Surgeons and Consultant Anaesthetists to ensure patients are prepared for surgery. The role will require the suitable candidate to be competent in taking patient medical history, assessing the patient's suitability for surgery and undertaking pre-operative tests for all our patients. As a Sister in Pre-Operative Assessment you will conduct thorough health assessments and provide comprehensive support to patients at the Pre-Assessment clinic, enabling them to be as prepared for their procedure and subsequent recovery period. You will review patients from multiple surgical specialities and prepare our patients for their surgery, optimise their health and help to reduce cancellations. You will undertake pre-operative tests for all our patients and work as a key part of a multi-disciplinary team. wellington Essential skills key to this role are implementing and maintaining high clinical standards whilst caring for patients, enhancing staff personal development, providing guidance, support and expertise to clinical staff. Duties & Responsibilities: The clinical Pre-Assessment of patients from multiple surgical specialities via face to face or telephone, liaising with the Consultant Surgeons and Consultant Anaesthetists Ability to take blood samples and perform ECG's Providing a high-quality nursing care, health promotion, and education to all patients attending the Pre-Assessment clinic Lead on the development and implementation of the Pre-Operative Assessment service Perform Pre-Operative Assessment as a proficient practitioner Ensure all Pre-Assessment tests are completed in a timely manner Assist in the development of Pre-Assessment protocols, guidelines and patient information To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions Assist in organisation of clinics to ensure smooth, efficient operations Ensure patients privacy and confidentiality Identify complex care patients and refer when appropriate for MDT review Liaise with consultants, ward and the multidisciplinary team to ensure a smooth patient journey To maintain accurate records of patient care & charged keyed on to Meditech Organise tests and appointments both within and outside the hospital Provide patients with information regarding the management of their condition Oversee the Pre-Assessment nursing team, supporting professional development and performance Manage the day-to-day running of Pre-Assessment clinic to ensure efficient patient flow and minimise surgery cancellations Monitor KPIs, conduct audit and implement improvements Provide education and mentor junior staff, students and new team members Contribute to creation and review of protocols, guidelines and risk assessment Investigate and report clinical incidents or near-misses, promote a culture of safety Plan staffing rota to ensure adequate clinic coverage and appropriate skill mix Ensure supply are available within acceptable PAR level and equipment are maintained in good working condition Collect and analyse patient data to support service development and reporting At HCA UK we care about what you care about.
