From their large network of UK offices, their award-winning team of Water Engineering professionals, lead projects across a range of activities including river & coastal defence, waste water treatment, surface water management, sustainable urban drainage design and flood alleviation schemes.
In addition to a variety of major long-term frameworks that they currently support across the UK, their hard work has culminated in the award of the “Better Rivers” framework by United Utilities, within which they will lead the design and project management of numerous schemes to improve our rivers across the Region.
As a result, they are seeking passionate and ambitious Mechanical Design Engineers to join their teams in Manchester, Warrington and Leeds.
In additional to the Better Rivers framework, you would also have the chance to be involved with a broad spectrum of projects as part of the prestigious AMP8 programme leading into AMP9 and beyond.

About the role
The role will enable you to become involved with a variety of exciting projects, collaborating with leading minds in the industry, and ultimately have a meaningful impact on millions of lives the UK, leaving a legacy for generations to come.
Key responsibilities will include:
You will work on a wide variety of projects across a variety of major long-term frameworks with water companies across the UK. Work closely with Senior and Principal Engineers and other stakeholders supporting project delivery. Undertaking asset condition surveys and preparing reports and recommendations. Contribute to the production of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Preparation of mechanical design deliverables including calculations, reports, specifications, datasheets, drawings, schedules, and procurement documentation. Providing support to allow the project team to comply with the duties of Designer under CDM including the production of design risk assessments. Collaborate with contractors, the supply chain, and various project stakeholders.
About you
You will be experienced in producing technical outputs such as technical specifications, sizing and designing pumping systems and aeration systems, schedules, and reports and familiar with collaborative planning reviews and designs of solutions.
You will be able to provide engineering input design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
You will have strong communication skills and be able to deliver technical presentations to clients and other design engineers as well as inputting into collaborative design discussions including technical workshops, and safety reviews including HAZOPs and ALMs.
You will understand how water and wastewater treatment processes operate and be experienced in assessing existing site infrastructure to develop and deliver the mechanical design.
Qualifications:
An IMechE accredited degree. Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage. Chartered or working towards chartership for Senior or Principal grades. Affiliation with a professional institution like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or in the process of working towards membership and nearing application.
