About the Role:
Are you a psychology graduate passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are currently recruiting for full-time SEN Support Assistants to work in primary schools across Bristol. As a support assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping children with SEN achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.
This is a fantastic opportunity for psychology graduates who are looking to apply their knowledge in a hands-on, rewarding school environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with teachers and other support staff, providing tailored assistance to children who need extra support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
2. Assisting with the development and implementation of individualised learning plans (IEPs)
3. Helping children engage with the curriculum in a way that suits their specific needs
4. Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
5. Assisting with classroom management and behaviour support
6. Providing feedback to teachers and school staff on progress and challenges
7. Building strong, trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff
About You:
1. A degree in Psychology (or related field)
2. A genuine interest in working with children, particularly those with SEN
3. Previous experience working with children (either in a voluntary or professional capacity) is desirable, but not essential
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Patient, empathetic, and proactive in supporting children’s development
6. Ability to adapt and tailor approaches to meet individual needs
7. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
