The Recruitment Co are currently working with a large Health Care Public Sector body based in Belfast in recruiting for a Band 5 Ophthalmic Science Practitioner.
Job Summary / Main Purpose
The post-holder will work as an integral member of multi-disciplinary ophthalmology team and will be responsible for providing ophthalmic diagnostic and imaging services.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
For each of the following, the post holder will;
Be responsible for providing ophthalmic diagnostic and imaging services to include the following image capture and testing procedures:
- Colour Retinal Fundus Photography
- Ocular Photography
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Visual Fields (VF)
- Visual Acuity testing
* Be responsible for the setting up and smooth running of screening, diagnostic and imaging clinics.
* Ensure that patients attending clinics are adequately prepared by providing relevant information about the procedures being undertaken.
* Be responsible for the safety and welfare of patients attending clinics at all times.
* Have sufficient knowledge of a range of diagnostic and imaging tests to be able to decide on the most appropriate test for a particular patient.
* Be responsible for producing high quality images and reliable results and to recognise and rectify testing situations which may affect the validity of result.
* Maintain appropriate records and work to good clinical practice principles.
* Undertake administrative duties as necessary.
* Perform any other reasonable duties within the general ambit of the post and the competence of the post-holder.
Qualifications/ Experience
* Degree educated in relevant field or equivalent experience
* Training and support provided
This is a full time position but flexible working arrangements can be set in place for the right candidate.
