Salary Details: Grade D: is D1 (£13.28ph) up to a D5 (£14.68ph) depending on experience. FTE £25,628 to £28,326
Hours of Work: 78 hours per year - hours are flexible/variable but is approx. 1.5 hours a week, 52 weeks per year

Kingsclere C of E Primary School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clerk to the Governing Body. The ideal candidate will be resilient, assertive and show great initiative. The successful applicant will need to have a flexible approach to time. The role of the clerk will require approximately 78 hours per year, which will include attendance at approximately 6 meetings for the Full Governing Body, and 6 each for the Finance and Curriculum Committees, a total of approximately 18 meetings each year.
Proven clerking experience in the education sector will be a distinct advantage in this role, as you will be supporting our Chair of Governors to ensure the smooth running of the Governing Body. The role requires the post-holder to have very good organisational and IT skills, along with the ability to take concise, accurate minutes. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate strong levels of confidentiality and good communication skills (verbal and written).
Main Duties
1. Ensuring effective timetabling, administration and organisation of governing body meetings
2. Preparing agendas and organisation of paperwork for meetings, in conjunction with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher, and issuing of the minutes within 14 days of the meeting
3. Accurate minute-taking of meetings, ensuring timely distribution and filing of all paperwork
4. Maintaining the Governor pages of the school website (full training will be given) and to ensure all paperwork is available to all governors
5. Managing and maintaining records of governor correspondence
6. Close liaison with the Chair of Governors, Headteacher and School Finance/Administration Officer regarding governing body matters
7. Ensuring that the governing body fulfils any statutory requirements, providing advice to the governing body over changes to statutory requirements, policies or other governance matters. Support and training for this is provided through Hampshire Governor Services
Key Requirements and Essential Qualities:
1. A good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths) with the ability to produce high quality minutes
2. Shorthand, typing or secretarial qualifications
3. Must have already attended or make a commitment to attend the training programme for Clerks
4. Exceptional IT skills, especially with Word and Excel and access to relevant equipment for working from home (computer, printer, internet)
5. Administration experience and must be able to use your initiative and able to work to the meeting deadlines
6. Be a confident researcher, able to manage information and advice from a variety of sources
7. Be able to develop good working relationships with the Governing Body, Headteacher and school staff
8. Be able to maintain absolute confidentiality and have experience with confidential matters and safeguarding
9. Willing to undertake any Hampshire Governor Services training as necessary for legal compliance or personal development and attend network meetings as required
10. Is keen to join a strong team in a school & is empathetic to and supportive of the school values of Love, Courage and Respect
You will have the option to be based in the school office if desired, allowing you time to organise meetings, prepare paperwork and complete the associated administration for the role.
