Your initial project: Join a high-profile scheme for the Ministry of Justice in Buckinghamshire as Senior Environmental Advisor. This exciting role offers the chance to apply your experience in managing environmental challenges from pre-construction through to delivery. The role will be based in Buckinghamshire, with regular travel to our Manchester office during the early phases of the project.
Responsibilities include:
1. Actively contribute to pushing the boundaries of sustainability and help us achieve our goal of becoming a net-zero company.
2. Ensure work packages are delivered in accordance with contractual, client and our EMS requirements.
3. Identify environmental risks and opportunities at both pre-construction and delivery stages, engaging project, design and delivery teams to manage them effectively.
4. Obtain necessary environmental consents by liaising with relevant statutory bodies.
5. Drive environmental awareness and engage the workforce through the delivery of training and advice.
6. Develop and maintain Construction Environmental Management Plans, ensuring all risks and opportunities are addressed with appropriate mitigation measures.
7. Monitor and report on environmental performance and conduct regular site inspections.
8. Ensure environmental emergency arrangements are implemented, tested, and managed effectively.
9. Report, investigate, and take corrective actions on any environmental incidents and non-conformances.
10. Promote and drive environmental initiatives aligned with our sustainability strategy, including carbon reduction, waste minimisation, and nature protection.
About You:
1. A passionate, collaborative and influential environment champion within the construction industry.
2. Technically skilled with environmental processes and assessments e.g. BREEAM.
3. Degree qualified in relevant discipline e.g. Environmental Management/Sciences, Sustainability, or construction related degree with professional body membership (IEMA, IES or CIEEM) preferred.
4. Understanding of ISO14001 and ISO50001 requirements and compliance management systems. Environmental Auditor preferred.
5. Willingness and ability to travel nationally, working across diverse teams and projects.
6. High personal drive, commitment, and enthusiasm to learn and grow within the role.
