Job responsibilities
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. To interpret MRI examinations, and provide a written report for General Practitioners, Consultants, and other healthcare professionals within your scope of practice.
2. To be responsible for ensuring your reports are communicated clearly in line with Healthshare and national reporting standards, and in a timely manner.
3. To issue and authorise written reports in your own name and registration number, and to be accountable for these reports.
4. To ensure that any images demonstrating significant pathology are dealt with promptly, and the referring clinician is alerted as soon as possible.
5. To be responsible for working within your own competency and referring anything outside your competency to a Reporting Radiographer colleague or Consultant Radiologist.
6. To be aware of your limitations and refer on when required.
7. To monitor image quality across the service, ensuring consistent high-quality technique, identifying any issues/errors and provide effective feedback and education to radiographers as required.
8. To continuously audit your own reporting standards, participating in the quarterly peer review within the reporting radiographer team.
9. To provide expert advice/support to clinicians, radiographers, general practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
10. To work to the standards of performance and ethics laid down by the Health Care Professions Council.
11. To maintain high standards of appearance, professional attitude, and punctuality.
12. To observe and adhere to Healthshare policies, including Health & Safety requirements, at all times.
Communication
1. Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels within Healthshare and external health professionals including clerical and clinical staff by both verbal and written means.
2. To ensure written reports and examination details are entered onto the Radiology Information System accurately and in a timely manner.
3. To ensure unexpected or urgent findings are communicated appropriately according to Healthshare protocols.
4. To provide effective feedback to radiographic staff on technical issues.
5. To attend quarterly clinical governance meetings when required.
Analytical & Planning
1. To take an active role in service improvement within Healthshare.
2. To participate in Healthshare's audit programme.
3. To maintain a personal commitment to CPD, maintaining your knowledge base and awareness of all current radiographic issues.
4. To participate in in-house and externally run courses/study days as required.
5. To be responsible for regular audit of your work to ensure high sensitivity and accuracy of reports.
6. To maintain up to date registration with HCPC.
