Job Summary
Under close supervision, responsibilities of the Technician I may include assembly, forming, finishing, material removal, inspection, rework, and repair of assembly components and parts, per customer specifications. Maintenance of machine tools, hydraulic systems, CNC equipment, vacuum, and electrical systems on equipment throughout the company. Includes operation of machines, hand and power tools, gages and measuring instruments, fabrication of temporary tooling, tooling maintenance, and first-level maintenance.
This is a WEEKEND NIGHT SHIFT: Friday-Sunday 4:00 PM - 4:00 AM
Job Responsibilities
1. Identify and evaluate patterns. Determine method to remove material to meet customer specifications. Remove material by tank media.
2. Prepare parts for the tank by painting, patching, and removing all required maskant for etching. Use exacto knife and scale to hand layer out patterns.
3. Drill, assemble rivets and brackets on segments and rings, trim, and touch up paint.
4. Deburr and form parts using expanders, hot dye presses, and rolls.
5. Mask parts as required by applying tape to holes, masking first cut parts, and strip boards.
6. Strip flanges with knife, load parts using crane, and run laser program.
7. Maintain records associated with periodic maintenance and order spare/replacement parts as required.
8. Maintain a clean work environment, including storage and cleaning duties, in full compliance with company standards, customer, and government regulations.
9. Assist in developing and maintaining a business culture supporting the company's overall objectives, including issues related to cost, quality, process, schedule, and people.
10. Ensure the company's commitment to a safe workplace and environmental protection through policy and regulation adherence.
11. Comply with GKN Aerospace policies on contracting with the U.S. Government in all responsibilities involving direct and indirect contracting.
12. Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED
* 1 year of experience using hand tools and measuring tools
* 1 year of experience reading blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
* Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder due to security clearance requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
* GKN Experience
* Experience working with hazardous materials and chemicals
* Ability to work as a team player and independently
* Knowledge in troubleshooting, safety, quality, and technical issues
* Willingness to work in a repetitive production environment focusing on cost, quality, and schedule
