We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our support services team as a Junior Technical Support Engineer. Job Description:
The Junior Technical Support Engineer will work closely with our internal teams and external clients to provide exceptional technical support. This role will focus on SQL Server database deployment, scripting, and network infrastructure troubleshooting, while also assisting with web deployments via IIS and automating tasks using PowerShell and batch files. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and will play a key role in ensuring system reliability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with Microsoft SQL Server database deployments, configurations, and maintenance.
* Write and execute basic SQL scripts for troubleshooting, reporting, and maintenance.
* Deploy and update web applications using IIS.
* Provide technical support for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution of system, database, and web deployment-related issues.
* Develop and maintain PowerShell and batch file scripts to automate administrative tasks and processes.
* Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity and performance.
* Collaborate with internal and external IT teams to support customers' infrastructure and ensure systems are operational.
* Document issues, resolutions, and procedures for future reference and knowledge sharing.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
* Achieve a 90% resolution rate for support tickets within defined SLAs.
* Successfully complete at least 3 SQL Server deployments per quarter.
Key Requirements:
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database deployment and basic script writing.
* Experience with IIS and web deployments.
* Scripting knowledge of PowerShell and/or batch files.
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Access and VBA is an advantage.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Certifications such as MCSA, CCNA, or equivalent.
* Familiarity with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
* Experience with other database management systems.
* Understanding of network topology and infrastructure components (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
Working Hours:
* 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
* Flexible working hours when required.
* Occasional travel and attendance at company events.
Salary & Benefits:
* Salary £22,000 - £28,000 dependent on experience.
