Health and Safety Manager - Food Manufacturing

We are seeking a NEBOSH qualified Health and Safety Manager with 5+ years experience within FMCG, working along with the Senior team at our bakery in Wigston, Leicestershire.
Responsibilities include:
1. Ensure the site’s compliance with all aspects of the Company H&S Policy and associated procedures in the UK and within the group requirements.
2. Provide advice, guidance, support to the team; providing coaching and training as necessary.
3. Develop, implement and monitor the Health & Safety policy.
4. Support the environmental plan and environment Manager.
5. Promote Health & Safety awareness and ensure all Health & Safety functions are completed.
6. Ensure risk assessments and SSOW, Lotto, RAMS contractors’ control are in place and reviewed regularly.
7. Prepare Health & Safety statistical performance reports (KPI’s) and drive improvement in the H&S key performance indicators.
8. Instigate action plans following incidents, accidents, near misses or changes in legislation.
9. Receive and record accident and near miss data, ensuring robust root cause investigation and corrective & preventative action planning.
10. Assist Managers in the investigation of accidents.
11. Facilitate and lead the site’s H&S Committee.
12. Manage the safety observation program and carry out frequent Health & Safety audits (CATS).
13. Ensure the provision of clear and relevant Health & Safety information.
14. Lead initiatives designed to improve commitment at all levels to continuously improve standards of HSE.
15. Identify opportunities to drive improvement in Group H&S processes with the site leadership team.
16. Work with the site’s HR Manager to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
17. Collaborate with the site’s Trainer to ensure all employees and agency workers receive the required HS&E training.
18. Work with the group HS&E/engineering to deliver capital and other project initiatives ensuring compliance with regulations.
19. Provide analysis and reporting to allow for accurate and efficient annual budgeting.
20. Manage site safety/security implementation (CCTV, fob access, etc.).
21. Liaise with the HSE and Environment Agency and other enforcement agencies on all matters.
22. Manage the fire control systems/fire ammonia safety.
23. Form part of the site ‘food defence’ team and crisis management team.
24. Oversee First Aid provision.
25. Be an active member of the site’s crisis management team.
26. Monitor insurance inspections and ensure compliance is maintained.
27. Ensure statutory dust and noise level exposures are regularly recorded and actions taken.
28. Be the site’s primary liaison with Health & Safety Executive, NHS, Fire & Rescue Services, and other regulatory bodies.
29. Contribute to the Group H&S Committee, including the provision of relevant reports/data to support the H&S process.
30. Participate in the group cross audit process, which may require international and UK travel.
