We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Third in Charge to join a welcoming team at a nursery in the Chertsey area. This role is integral to supporting the nursery management and enhancing the quality of care and education that they provide. As Third in Charge you will maintain the high standards of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children, and ensure a quality environment by offering floor-based training and development for staff. You will collaborate with the team to create an enabling environment where children can play, develop, and learn. You will build and maintain strong partnerships with parents and champion the values and ethos of the company.
This role is full time but can be worked over 4 or 5 days per week. Responsibilities:
* Quality Education: Focus on enhancing the quality of education, ensuring the Early Years Foundation Stage delivery meets individual needs
* Operational Management: Open and close the nursery in the manager/deputy’s absence, plan the daily schedule, and oversee the smooth running of the nursery
* Training: Train and develop room leaders, occasionally stepping into their roles
* External Collaboration: Liaise with schools and outside agencies to support children’s readiness for school and enhance nursery practices
* Parental Engagement: Develop strong partnerships and effective communication with parents and carers
* Teamwork and Leadership: Supervise, direct, support, and motivate staff across the nursery
* Conduct show rounds and handle additional responsibilities such as SENCO, training coordination, and safeguarding
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Have a relevant and recognised childcare qualification at level 3 or above
* Experience of supervising a team in a nursery setting
* Experience of working in partnership with parents
* Recent Paediatric First Aid certificate
* Able to demonstrate ongoing personal development training
* Experience of implementing the EYFS
