About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Services Assistant to join our in-house legal team. You will join an established legal team, where as a Legal Services Assistant you will be responsible for a number of different administrative tasks supporting not only your legal colleagues, but also the Society and its subsidiaries on a variety of areas from data protection, member tasks and corporate governance issues.
You will be the first point of contact for any queries from the Group, monitoring a variety of departmental inboxes and compiling responses to queries under the supervision of our knowledgeable and experienced team. You will also be responsible for keeping up-to-date with legal developments and changes, including regularly reviewing regulatory / legal publications as and when they are published and advising the legal team and/or wider Group (if appropriate) of any upcoming changes and measures to be taken by the Group.
This is a busy role where no two days are the same, and you will be required to work with a degree of independence and using initiative, within a supportive environment. Given the variety of work streams that the legal team is involved in, there is scope for you to shape the role.
About You
You will have excellent organisational, written and verbal skills and will demonstrate a strong attention to detail, combined with a good knowledge of Microsoft applications (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint). You will have good analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and accurately, to enable you to acquire the necessary technical knowledge in a short space of time. You will have the natural ability to build relationships and communicate at all levels. A basic understanding of the Financial Services sector or experience working within a legal environment in a similar role would be desirable.
