We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Linux and Storage Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT services team. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
1. Ability to work as a member of a technical team, actively sharing knowledge to help ensure all team members develop their skills and stay updated with any technical changes.
2. Experience in remote communication using appropriate channels (telephone, Slack, email, etc.) to resolve technical issues efficiently.
3. Strong problem-solving skills, capable of working well under pressure and prioritizing tasks effectively.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical staff at all organizational levels.
5. Experience in collaborating with 3rd party support/vendors to resolve technical issues.
6. A strong alignment with Companies House Values, demonstrating adaptability, boldness, and curiosity.
7. Proficiency in technical skills, including working knowledge of storage systems (primarily NetApp OnTap/CVO), Linux administration, and AWS cloud computing technologies.
In this Senior Infrastructure Engineer role, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Respond to and resolve incidents to meet agreed targets.
2. Proactively monitor system performance and take preventative or corrective action when necessary, adhering to Change Management procedures.
3. Provide root cause analysis for problems and implement appropriate corrective actions.
4. Take a proactive role in the project to migrate on-premise services to the cloud.
5. Participate in the design and upgrade pathways for existing infrastructure.
6. Configure and install solutions to meet business needs while ensuring compliance with agreed standards and the Companies House Change Management process.
7. Decommission redundant systems/hardware as needed.
8. Document existing and future systems/processes.
9. Maintain and update the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
10. Be part of a team that provides cover from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, and participate in the on-call rota to ensure services remain operational 24/7/365.
