We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Outreach Lead to join the 1625 Outreach Service. 1625 Outreach is no normal drug and alcohol service. It is an innovative and forward-thinking project, with a proven track record of effectively engaging young people and young adults. Our ethos is centred around the principles of harm reduction, we provide non-judgmental, fact-based, information and advice surrounding drug and alcohol use and the associated risks. We aim to give young people and young adults the knowledge and skills to make more informed choices, to keep themselves and their peers aware, safe, and well when it comes to drugs/alcohol. Where: Sheffield Hours: 37.5 per week (full time - including evenings & weekends) Salary: £27,861.26 to £32,002.35 depending on experience (based on full time working hours, pro rata for part time) About the role: Working with those aged 16 to 25, you will lead the service’s work across the community in Sheffield, coordinating & facilitating detached outreach with young people and young adults in areas of concern (e.g., parks, town/city centres, estates, etc). Building & maintaining relationships with key community-based partners and stakeholders is a big part of the role, you will spend time networking and developing the trust of our partners/stakeholders in the service/organisation, but most importantly, their trust in you as a practitioner. You will also work closely with the rest of the team, facilitating interventions at organised events like music festivals, freshers, and pride, as well as supporting training for professionals within the night time economy. Additionally, our service volunteers & students on placement will support you, in return you will provide them with guidance and supervision as they develop their skills and experience. Addressing emerging needs is paramount when working with young people and young adults in this setting. You will need to expect the unexpected, don’t worry though, you will experience a lot of fun and enjoyment in this role About you: Considerable knowledge & experience of working with young people and/or young adults, ideally from experience of working within a community service setting - e.g., youth work, drug & alcohol, mental health, sexual health, community safety. Knowledge of the issues faced by young people & young adults (16-25's), with working knowledge of safeguarding & professional accountability. A good understanding of local support services, relevant to young people & young adults. Knowledge of risk & working in a risk informed way, with an awareness of personal safety. Working knowledge of drugs, alcohol & harm reducaton relevant to the age range (e.g. cannabis, MDMA, Ketamine, NOS, Cocaine, etc). Great communicator (verbal & written).
