Our client has over 20 years’ experience in designing, building and operating energy-efficient, reliable data centres - hosting significant financial, media, corporate and cloud wholesale providers across the world.
As the Senior Construction Cost Manager, you will be involved with a significant portfolio of projects across EMEA.
You will support the EMEA Director of Construction Cost Management in developing and implementing industry-leading cost management and estimating across the GDC (Global Data Centers) EMEA program. This includes the full end-to-end pre-contract and construction cost management.
The role will involve interfacing across multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders as well as developing global standards.
Responsibilities
* With a right-first-time mindset, utilising an excellent level of experience and understanding of key cost drivers to make informed decisions on appropriate costs for inclusion across the EMEA portfolio.
* Responsible for undertaking and overseeing commercial outputs of the internal and external cost teams.
* Managing the assessment, creation and reduction of cost of development benchmarks for reference design, expansion (new site developments) including regional and sub-regional cost variances and considerations.
* Supporting with global standardisation of cost management processes.
* Undertaking a project and programme change management process, including pro-active trend analysis to identify opportunities for reduction.
* Undertaking timely, accurate and detailed end-to-end cost management including cost reporting, cashflow forecasting and benchmarking at project and programme level.
* Interfacing with the GDC EMEA, finance, asset management and controlling teams.
Experience / Education
* Experience in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
* Preferably Degree / Masters in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
* Preferably Data Center experience, but not a pre-requisite.
* Pre-contract and post-contract experience.
* Business fluent in English; another language such as German is an advantage.
* Experience of managing others.
* Good communication skills, flexible, proactive approach and good stakeholder management.
* Ability to cope with tight deadlines, prioritise workloads and maintain a consistent, high standard of output.
* Flexible to travel for meetings / site visits / collaboration time across multiple locations.
