An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dietitian with an interest in acute surgery to join the dietetic team at Mid Cheshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, based at Leighton Hospital, as a full time Band 6 dietitian.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a key member of the surgical dietetic team, providing a specialist dietetic service to complex surgical patients including the provision of PN and enteral nutrition. The post holder will enjoy close working relationships with the multidisciplinary team. They will also cover a dietetic surgical outpatient clinic supporting the patient journey to post-operative recovery, enabling timely nutritional intervention.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate relevant skills and experience in oral and enteral nutritional support; support can be provided to extend these skills and PN following competency-based training as required. The post holder will support the training, mentoring and development of junior dietetic staff and students, which will provide opportunities for developing leadership skills. This post sits within a supportive clinical team with dietetic assistants and administrative support.
The service places a strong emphasis on clinical and peer supervision and has a well-established program facilitating the training of dietetic students on clinical placements.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To deliver specialist dietetic services to adult patients, with responsibility primarily for the surgical specialty across Mid Cheshire Hospitals Trust, as part of the Acute Adult Dietetic Team.
To formulate, deliver and monitor nutritional care plans for referred patients. This would include highly complex clinical conditions and diet therapy, across the surgical wards and outpatient clinic.
To be recognised as an expert source of knowledge in your field of expertise contributing to the development of clinical guidelines, resources and education packages.
