Job Description
In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining the integrity of safe systems across the site and adhering to any safety instructions.
You'll support engineering teams with day-to-day issues, ensuring smooth handovers and project timelines. Coordinating the focus of engineering teams is key, especially regarding production requirements, equipment maintenance, operator support, training, and development.
You'll also monitor, improve, and innovate engineering processes while collaborating with other departments and suppliers to enhance functions and processes continuously. Completing all mandatory training is necessary to ensure a safe working environment.
Financially, you'll lead initiatives that drive efficiencies within the engineering function and support data collection for maintenance activities and project work. This involves working closely with finance and management to assess investment viability and maximise the engineering budget.
You'll challenge standard practices to find improvement opportunities, limit waste, and report any hazards or risks that could impact the business. Additionally, you'll perform any other duties as required by management that align with your training and capabilities.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you'll need to be a confident people manager capable of leading the department, especially in the absence of the Engineering & Asset Manager. Experience in managing contractors and maintaining site services is essential.
You'll thrive in a fast-paced FMCG environment by multitasking effectively and employing continuous improvement tools. Strong communication skills are crucial, allowing you to interact across all organisational levels. Being IT literate is necessary for managing processes and using systems like CMMS.
Ideally, you have experience as a shift-based engineer or engineering manager within FMCG, with the ability to handle multiple projects and demonstrate leadership. Flexibility for out-of-hours work when needed is also important.
Ideally you'll come from an apprentice background in an engineering environment / HNC/HND level engineering qualification.
