Synergy Personnel LTD are currently recruiting for 2 x Senior Quantity Surveyors for a project near Reading, Berkshire.\n\nTo work as part of the project team responsible for the design and build of a state of the art engineering and work spaces. The project consists of 5 new build facilities featuring a truly breath-taking street environment which connects the new offices, learning spaces and science with the natural environment.\n\nThe specific role opportunity will centre around high value subcontract procurement and management in delivery. Working closely with our technical and operational team members to achieve the best co-ordinated outcome.
Subcontracts will vary in scale from circa £2m to /£20m and candidates should wish to work within a large, highly motivated team with long term prospects with a likely pipeline of work from the customer.\n\nA Senior Quantity Surveyor is an experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.\n\nThey will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.\n\nEnergy: Create pace and momentum in the right direction ·\n\nEdge: Courage to make the tough decisions ·\n\nExcite: Engage and inspire my team to take on the seemingly impossible\n\nExecute: Get the job done and done well\n\nEmpowerment: Provide direction and support without prescribing the route\n\nEmpathise: Listen, understand and adjust\n\nGovernance · Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company’s GMCEs, BMS and other governance\n\nAnalytical Thinking & Decision Making ·\n\nOrders information and systematically checks data ·\n\nMaximises digital opportunities Cost Engineering ·\n\nPrepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents Estimating ·\n\nCritically appraises, estimates and negotiates the above with 3rd parties Planning ·\n\nReviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location, ·\n\nAssists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes Project Management · Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately ·\n\nAnalyses the commercial progress and report to senior project staff ·\n\nManages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility Procurement ·\n\nUndertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes ·\n\nPrepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy Commercial Management ·\n\nAnalyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required ·\n\nUndertakes customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility · Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required ·\n\nPrepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation Development, Recruitment and Retention ·\n\nMaintains own Personal Development Plan ·\n\nManages HR/People aspects for direct and indirect reports (PDRs etc) ·\n\nActively supports the development of others incl professional mentoring ·\n\nProduces plans for team to achieve goals / aspirations ·\n\nSupports recruitment of lower grades\n\nThe following qualifications are essential: ·\n\nBSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent ·\n\nMembership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)\n\nThe following qualities/experience are desirable: ·\n\nCommunication · Teamwork / Role Model · Leadership · Achievement Focus (Achieving Results) · Business and Customer Awareness · Applies organisational aims & objectives · Identifies with the customer needs · Recognises opportunities & threat\n\nSalary will be between £70k - £85k depending on experience, plus Car Allowance/Company Car plus additional company benefits aswell there is alot to mention
