Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a proactive and motivated Dietitian to join the Manchester Adults Cystic Fibrosis Centre (MACFC) as a Senior Specialist Dietitian for up to 11 months, as cover for maternity leave. The MACFC cares for 500 adults with cystic fibrosis who live in the Northwest region of the UK, providing a high-quality patient-focused service, with a national and international reputation for research.
Enthusiasm and a keen interest in cystic fibrosis are vital. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective leadership skills and have previous experience in supervision of junior staff. Previous clinical experience in nutritional support, enteral feeding, and diabetes are essential. Excellent personal and team working skills are essential. Experience in audit, quality improvement, and research are desirable.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide an efficient and high-quality specialised dietetic service for patients with cystic fibrosis.
2. As a highly experienced autonomous practitioner, assess, request diagnostic tests for, diagnose and treat patients within their own case load of inpatients and/or outpatients/in individual and group settings.
3. Be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.
4. Support the lead dietitian with the management and development of clinical services to patients attending the Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre (MACFC).
5. Manage and provide leadership for qualified dietitians in MACFC and supervise students.
6. Identify, co-ordinate and undertake continual professional development, audit, research activities, and in-service training within MACFC.
7. Identify and progress opportunities for service development within MACFC dietetics.
8. Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their professional and clinical work, working to agreed national and professional standards.

Education and registration
* BSc. or MSc. in Dietetics
* State registration via Health and Care Professions Council
* Member of relevant clinical specialist interest group
* Completion of a post-graduate management/leadership course
* Audit and Research training to a post-graduate level
* Completion of validated/nationally recognised post-graduate training or equivalent in the specialist area
* Registered member of the British Dietetic Association
Knowledge and experience
* Significant postgraduate clinical experience which includes a reasonable amount of time working in a post covering all aspects of general clinical dietetics and incorporating diabetes, weight management, and nutrition support.
* Highly comprehensive specialist knowledge of dietetic assessment and treatment techniques including anthropometric measurements, biochemical interpretation, and devising highly complex nutritional treatment plans.
* Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures.
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development to a specialist level.
* Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary team working.
* Evidence of contribution to clinical education and in-service training of less experienced staff/students and assistants.
* Understanding of clinical effectiveness and its implications for services.
* Evidence of contribution to service improvement and development of policy/procedures.
* Demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding practices relevant to the clinical area.
* Experience in a post at this level.
* Knowledge of gastroenterology and HPB.
* Advanced knowledge/experience in dietetics relating to Cystic Fibrosis.
* Advanced experience in nutrition support.
* Experience of managing less senior staff.
* Evidence of involvement in governance activities.
* Knowledge of community and Intermediate Care services.
