An exciting opportunity to join our successful Endoscopy Practitioner team has arisen. You will work out of a purpose-built JAG Accredited Endoscopy unit which opened in 2014. Since inception, the unit has had further investment through capital and other funding streams to equip the 5 theatres with the latest technology including Olympus X1 stackers and high-definition scopes.
As part of the Endoscopy Practitioner team, you will undertake 5 scoping sessions per week, 1 clinical session, and 2 admin sessions per week. Your non-working time will be flexible in line with service needs and agreed in advance with a minimum of 5 weeks' notice.
The clinical session will be within the wider Gastroenterology service, and full training and ongoing training will be provided for this aspect of the role, where required.
Main duties of the job
As an Endoscopy Practitioner, you will independently carry out Upper (OGDs) and/or Lower GI (flexi sigmoidoscopy & colonoscopy) endoscopy procedures and ensure that referrals for these scope types are vetted, which will include undertaking assessments for patients electronically.
You will take responsibility and be accountable for the planning and delivery of all aspects of patient care in relation to this specialist area of practice.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience in performing advanced clinical skills including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
* Knowledge and understanding of JAG Accreditation criteria
* Experience in performing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
* Extensive experience in speciality (Endoscopy) and bowel cancer.
* Extensive experience of working in the management of patients during investigations for bowel cancer.
* Experience of research and audit
Qualifications
* Registered health Professional
* Educated to 1st degree level (or equivalent experience)
* Possess Teaching and assessing Qualification 998 or equivalent
* Educated to Masters level (or equivalent experience in the specialist field)
