This is an important post in our therapy team as we continue to develop the delivery of services for our students with communication needs. You will provide assessment and interventions for students who have eating and drinking difficulties. As an integral part of our Valence School therapy and health team; consisting of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and nursing you will also be supported by a team of therapy and communication assistants. We have a structured model for the delivery of therapy services which promotes collaborative working and training, alongside our teaching and residential care provision.
Valence School is a KCC Foundation residential and day Special School for children and young people aged 4 to 19 with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated learning and communication difficulties. We are part of the Kent Special Educational Needs Trust (KsENT).
A post graduate qualification in management of dysphagia is desirable but not essential as training can be funded if required. This post will be supported and supervised by a dysphagia trained speech and language therapist. The post will also offer opportunities to work with senior therapists and the therapy lead on service organisation, development and training strategies with excellent opportunities to work with and support students with a variety of communication needs.
