Job Summary:
Knowlton and Newman, a leading Mechanical and Electrical Engineering firm, is seeking a reliable, hardworking Driver/Labourer/Cleaner to support our team. The role requires a flexible individual capable of working independently and as part of a team. The primary responsibilities include vehicle deliveries, fleet maintenance checks, cleaning of office spaces and workshop areas, and assisting engineers both on-site and in the workshop. The ideal candidate must be fit, able to manage physical tasks, and ready to take on varied duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Driver Duties:
Deliver and collect tools, equipment, and materials across sites.
Ensure the safe transportation of items in company vehicles.
Conduct regular vehicle checks and basic maintenance across the local fleet (oil, tyre pressure, fuel, etc.).
Maintain accurate delivery and vehicle maintenance logs.
Labourer Duties:
Assist engineers in the workshop and on-site with mechanical and electrical tasks as needed.
Carry and move heavy tools, materials, and equipment.
Support in setting up and preparing work areas for engineers.
Perform basic manual labour tasks, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of workspaces.
Cleaner Duties:
Clean and maintain office spaces, including desks, meeting rooms, and reception areas.
Clean and sanitise toilets, break rooms, and other shared areas.
Ensure cleanliness and organisation in the workshop and storage areas.
Dispose of waste and recyclables in line with company policies
General Responsibilities:
Ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
Maintain health and safety standards in all duties.
Work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative when needed.
Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by management.
Skills and Requirements:
Physical Fitness: Must be fit and able to carry out manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work on their feet for extended periods.
Driving License: A full, clean driving license is essential.
Self-Motivated: Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively.
Team Player: Able to collaborate with engineers and other staff members.
Attention to Detail: High standards of cleanliness and organisation are crucial.
Flexibility: Willing to take on varied duties and respond to changing needs in the workplace.
Working Conditions:
This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, including tasks in the workshop, on engineering sites, and in office environments. The position requires a physically fit individual, as manual labour and lifting are part of daily duties.
