Job Description
Reporting into the Head of Business Development, the Business Development Manager will be of key importance to growing IPS’ revenue within the co-pack and co-manufacturing market. This role will be responsible for generating new business opportunities with customers and maintaining existing customers throughout the IPS network. With a key focus on achieving set revenue and profitability targets, the Business Development Manager would source new customers, ensuring they align with IPS’ strategic direction, and deliver new business wins in conjunction with internal departments, such as Operations and Supply Chain. This is a diverse role where you will have the opportunity to work with various departments and take full ownership of the customer journey.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hour week
Key Duties of a Business Development Manager:
1. Respond to new business enquiries and devise an appropriate response strategy that will deliver the best result for both the customer and IPS.
2. Develop an understanding of the company’s P & L, giving you the knowledge required to target your new business acquisition efforts.
3. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and potential customers.
4. Proposal Development: Work with the wider Commercial team to create compelling proposals and presentations for potential clients.
5. Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and agreements with clients.
6. Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and market dynamics.
7. Networking: Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and promote the company’s services.
8. Revenue Growth: Drive profitable revenue growth by achieving sales targets and expanding the company’s market share.
9. Help to develop, execute and oversee a business development strategy that prioritises growth and positive customer experiences across the group.
10. Manage an existing client base, seeking new co-pack and co-manufacturing opportunities and agreeing where the best solution is for the appropriate site to deliver exceptional service.
11. Evaluate new business proposals and determine the potential financial revenue and contribution.
12. Work across various IPS / Culina teams to share knowledge, experience and best practice in securing new leads or business.
13. Manage contract negotiations and price increases, working with the central legal team when required to ensure compliance and fair working agreements.
14. Research and identify new opportunities that complement the strengths of the group.
15. Be a role model for others at all times and demonstrate the IPS behaviours.
16. Build solid relationships with Site Leads across IPS group.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of the food industry is highly desirable. Demonstrated understanding of co-packing/production management and the associated labour costing. An understanding of packaging development and design. Ability to communicate in a positive and clear manner. Foster an open and collaborative culture. Listen to and encourage new ideas from others. Knowledge of company procedures and actively demonstrate compliance. Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work to strict deadlines. Able to work towards targets. Recognises and promotes the importance of continuous improvement. Displays a positive attitude to change. Develops best practice and drives continuous improvement in all aspects of performance, in order to achieve service objectives. Preferably experience of working in a customer-led environment with changing priorities.
