Job summary We have great opportunities for enthusiastic and dynamic, suitably qualified Physiotherapists to join and help lead the Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatient Physiotherapy service at University College Hospital (UCH). The successful candidate will be working alongside other senior clinicians to help co-ordinate and evaluate the MSK Physiotherapy service with opportunities to advance and progress service development. You will have the chance to work alongside the wider surgical, medical and nursing teams to help contribute to and shape the delivery of a high quality, efficient and effective MSK outpatient service. You will work to the highest standards to facilitate evidence-informed patient care, playing a key role in implementing, facilitating and developing physiotherapy best practice in line with local and national guidelines. Your caseload will be a mix of orthopaedic and rheumatology patients including those with complex chronic musculoskeletal conditions, fractures, post-op rehabilitation and sports injuries and you will therefore be expected to have previous MSK experience at Band 6 level including Orthopaedic (fracture/upper and lower limb post op and conservative management) and Rheumatology patients. Ideal candidates will have a range of manual, communication, clinical reasoning and rehabilitative skills appropriate to the caseload and will be expected to provide an accountable, high quality physiotherapy service. A knowledge of hydrotherapy would be advantageous. Main duties of the job You should demonstrate evidence of ongoing CPD, knowledge of current legislation, good interpersonal, communication and clinical skills and the ability to work in a flexible manner. As a skilled clinician and leader, you will be able to prove your ability to assist in the education, training and supervision of less experienced physiotherapy staff as well as other allied health and medical colleagues. Allied to your clinical work will be managerial and administrative duties, which may include the operational management of the UCH hydrotherapy pool and rehabilitation groups. You will have responsibility for supervising and appraising junior staff and for mentoring student physiotherapists.
