Principal Commissioning Engineer – RTS Mechanical

Salary: £38,734 – £48,700
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Responsible for leading test and commissioning activities, de-conflicting tasks, briefing teams and overseeing work.
2. Deputise for relevant Commissioning Project Leader as and when required, including supervision of personnel on shift.
3. Responsible for safe plant operation, maintain awareness of plant state and consequences of activities.
4. Responsible for self-development and attending any mandatory training requirements.
5. Carry out routine work with limited supervision and understand safety consequences in a high risk environment.
6. Liaise/Interface with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.
7. Instruct and mentor less experienced members of the team with your knowledge and competency.
8. Responsible for research, review and feedback of appropriate documentation to the required standard.
9. Represent the Company on Contractors Sea Trials and other outworking requirements.
10. Responsible for delivering assigned activities in line with company policy, procedures and legislation.
11. Keep full and accurate records of work activities carried out as required by policy, procedure and legislation.
Your Skills and Experiences:
1. Experience of Commissioning or maintaining mechanical systems in a highly regulated industry (Oil, Gas or Nuclear).
2. Experience of working to high levels of detail, recording and reviewing results.
3. Knowledge of using test equipment and activities required for specific tests.
4. Understanding of the role and how the T&C contributes to the wider business and UK enterprise.
5. Knowledge of safety controls and procedures in a high-risk environment.
6. Experience working with high pressure systems.
7. Ability to understand complex Mechanical Systems (Drawings, diagrams, and procedures).
8. Aware of Nuclear Site/Authorisation Conditions.

The Commissioning Team:
As the Principal Commissioning Engineer RTS (Reactor Test Section) Mechanical, you will be at the start of one of the largest and most complex engineering programmes taken on nationally. It is an opportunity to work on first of class submarines, sharing your knowledge and mentoring less experienced engineers to help achieve our goals. You will also be involved in key event testing for Dreadnought on the new design of the reactor plant.
