The Local Authority has a statutory responsibility for ensuring a 24/7 response in Cheshire East to requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 (MHA). This duty is undertaken by the AMHP Service Monday – Friday 9-5 and the Emergency Duty Team outside of these hours.
The postholder will work closely with the AMHP on duty, taking calls and referrals into the service, liaising with a variety of agencies, professionals, and the courts to gather all the relevant information required in the coordination of MHA assessments. The position will include collation of data for audit purposes and general day to day administration tasks to support a busy, fast paced service, to include attendance at the monthly AMHP Forum as a minute taker. There will be opportunities to shadow the AMHP on MHA assessments in the community when required. The successful candidate will work largely remotely with opportunities to work alongside the triage / duty AMHP at Delamere Resource Centre, Crewe when required as part of Cheshire East Council’s hybrid working.
The successful candidate will require the ability to work under pressure, have good organisational skills, good communication skills and a willingness to develop this evolving role within the service.
