Rutherford Cross is pleased to be partnering with a highly successful FMCG business based in Lanarkshire to recruit a Group Accountant. The company has experienced substantial growth in recent years, both organically and through strategic acquisitions. As a result of this ongoing expansion, the newly created position of Group Accountant offers a unique opportunity for professional development and exposure to a wide range of responsibilities within a thriving organisation.
As part of the group finance team and reporting to the Financial Controller, the Group Accountant will play a key role in supporting the preparation of the group’s financial statements. The role requires a commitment to ensuring accuracy through adherence to a robust financial control framework, which includes the creation, monitoring, and refinement of processes, as well as conducting financial reviews and reconciliations. In addition, the role will have a significant focus on regulatory compliance, providing support for audit and tax-related functions within the finance department.
Key responsibilities include:
* Timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts
* Reviewing and posting accruals and prepayments
* Balance sheet analysis and reconciliations
* Group consolidation
* Monthly VAT returns
* Key contact for group audit and tax requirements
* Responsible for producing budgets for their areas in the group
* Group cashflow development and reporting
* Developing and documenting controls and processes
* Reviewing and maintaining Fixed Asset registers
* Managing and reviewing Hire Purchase
* Working with key stakeholders across all areas of the group
Essential skills:
* A strong understanding of financial accounting, ideally gained within an FMCG environment
* Degree in accountancy or a similar relevant qualification
* Holder of a recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS)
* Experience of ERP systems
* Strong level of IT literacy, particularly Excel

Salary on offer:
£45,000-£55,000
