An exciting new opportunity has arisen across our Birmingham Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital sites to recruit to a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work within our dynamic and experienced acute Speech and Language therapy team.
Individuals seeking to develop advanced dysphagia and leadership skills, or a current Band 5 therapist seeking to progress within the acute setting would be ideal for this role.
You will independently manage a caseload of adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders, actively initiating and participating in the interdisciplinary decision-making around patient care and developing service delivery initiatives.
The post holder, at times, may be required to work on any of our hospital sites within the Trust (Solihull, Heartlands, Good Hope). Participation in our 7-day on-call service will also be required.
Full-time and part-time positions are available, and we're open to discuss flexible working arrangements.

Main duties of the job
This post will have a clinical focus on acute in-patient care across our general medical and elderly hospital wards across three hospital sites and is an excellent opportunity for a developing specialist with a clinical interest in acute care.
You will be welcomed into a large and supportive therapy team with excellent training and development opportunities as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system. You will have the opportunity to work alongside highly specialist staff and have access to regular videofluoroscopy & FEES clinics. The successful candidate will have suitable post graduate clinical experience, demonstrable interest in acute care, with competency in both communication and dysphagia management.

Applicants must be organised, flexible and adaptable and able to problem solve and apply clinical reasoning effectively.
