Functional Skills Tutor We are seeking a Educator to join our team as a Functional Skills Tutor. The role is working with students on a 1:1 basis on roll at a specialist provision for students with SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties)at a small Lancashire school. The majority of students are disengaged, reluctant learners who can show challenging behaviours, often being referred following trauma. As a result the working environment can on occasion be challenging. Were looking for someone who can support young people to reach the best possible outcomes. Working in this type of setting is very rewarding. You will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals by providing them with the necessary skills to thrive in their daily lives. This sessional role includes working Monday to Friday and can be very flexible, depending on your availability. Each case is long term and hours range depending on the needs of the students. Responsibilities Teaching Maths, English ,Science, and PHSE Planning engaging sessions Tutor and educate individuals in various life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, and self-care Develop and implement personalised lesson plans based on individual needs and goals Provide guidance and support to individuals in developing independence and self-confidence Assist individuals in developing social skills and building positive relationships Monitor progress and provide feedback to individuals and their families Collaborate with other professionals, such as teachers and therapists, to ensure comprehensive care Maintain accurate records of individual progress and activities Support students with GCSE Maths You Will ideally Have: Experience Teaching Maths and English Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each individual Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail However the school is prepared to accept candidates who are passionate about ensuring every child has an opportunity to reach their potential.
