The Mechanical Pressure Vessel Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of the packaged equipment framework and pipe support design. Preferably specialized in structural steelwork analysis, you will perform the design and/or collaborate with the mechanical team in defining design packages and checking design deliverables. As part of the project team, you will provide design inputs to the designers and manage design matters with clients, contractors, vendors, and/or third parties.
A Day in The Life Typically Includes:
* Performing the mechanical design for tanks and pressure vessels for the process package or coordinating the mechanical design with the respective design disciplines for timely submission of all design deliverables, calculations, reports, and drawings in compliance with the contract project requirements.
* Preparing design inputs for the mechanical designers and reviewing and/or approving mechanical engineering deliverables, general arrangement and detail drawings.
* Ensuring the equipment designed meets necessary design codes and standards, project specifications, and good engineering practices.
* Resolving or managing the resolution of design issues with involved parties in the project (client, procurement, QC, KES workshops, suppliers).
* Handling customer comments and technical clarifications and interfacing with the client for design issues until resolution.
* Participating in KOM, progress meetings, and design review meetings as needed.
* Working in accordance with the company procedures and standards.
What You Will Need:
* Strong adherence to safety and demonstrated safe work habits.
* Experience as a mechanical engineer for complex mechanical systems or packages including tanks and pressure vessels.
* Good working knowledge of ASME VIII DIV.1 and PD5500.
* Experience in preparation/review of calculation notes and reports.
* Demonstrable track record of delivering on time, within budget, with quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Well organized and able to work independently.
* Fluent in English with strong report writing skills.
What Will Put You Ahead?
* Mechanical Engineering degree with experience in packages with steel structures.
* Experience in the oil & gas and/or chemicals/petrochemicals industry.
* Experience with tanks and pressure vessels.
* Good knowledge of Compress or PV Elite or equivalent.
* Knowledge of welding techniques and related documentation.
* Experience working with StaadPro and/or equivalent structural design software would be an advantage.
* Good knowledge of Caesar or equivalent would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of GRP piping design would be an advantage.
* Experience with connection design software (Limcon or equivalent) would be an advantage.
