At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.
About the Role
This is a newly created role within the Council and is an exciting opportunity for you to implement and develop your negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking abilities. You will be a key member of the Strategic Transport service within the Sustainable Communities Directorate, responsible for developing a plan to deliver on the Councils strategic and operational objectives for Bath’s three Park & Ride sites at Lansdown, Odd Down and Newbridge. You will have proven ability in influencing and negotiating with a wide range of stakeholders, embedding a collaborative approach to improving the park and ride service for all users and delivering across services.
Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage site attracting over 6 million national and international visitors a year. The Bath Park & Ride provision is a critical component to achieving Bath & North East Somerset Council’s carbon net zero ambitions, as articulated in the ‘Journey to Net Zero’ policy, by providing a viable alternative for visitors accessing the hugely popular city of Bath by private vehicle, alleviating congestion and improving air quality.
The current Park & Ride service is one of the most successful in the UK providing a platform for encouraging private vehicle users onto public transport, you will build on this success.
About You
You will be instrumental in leading significant improvements to the transport infrastructure, which could include developing the Park & Ride sites into transport hubs and mobility zones to accelerate these improvements, to build a legacy you can be proud of for years to come. In addition to improvements to existing infrastructure, you will think creatively to maximise the benefits of the sites under your responsibility to drive patronage, ensuring that the use of these assets delivers significant value to all users as well as the people of Bath & North East Somerset.
Bath & North East Somerset Council is a forward-thinking authority that encourages employees to take responsibility. It embraces new ways of working and supports innovative approaches to deliver initiatives that support Council Strategic Objectives, following Council values of a Bold, Empowered, Transparent and Supportive approach.
