Role Overview:
We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to take a leading role within a dynamic team. As an Occupational Health Advisor, you will play a crucial part in improving the health and wellbeing of employees while ensuring the Occupational Health service runs smoothly. This role offers the flexibility of hybrid working, with the option to work 4 or 5 days a week. Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health service.
2. Conduct Health Surveillance, Audiometry, Spirometry, and Fitness for Work assessments.
3. Deliver health education and promotion to employees.
4. Handle case management, providing high-quality reports and management advice both in-person and over the phone.
5. Offer clinical supervision and support to less experienced team members.
6. Train and empower Occupational Health Nurse Advisors to take on a broader range of clinical activities, ensuring ongoing professional development.
7. Support the Occupational Health Manager in monitoring and assessing the team's clinical practices.
8. Respond to client and manager requests for information or support on workplace health issues.
9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with departmental protocols.
10. Lead and contribute to the development of a proactive and high-quality Occupational Health service.
11. Ensure NMC registration is current and comply with professional guidelines.
12. Promote equality, respect, and a work environment free from harassment and bullying.
13. Lead defined projects in collaboration with the head of Occupational Health to deliver clinically effective care.
14. Help design and implement Health Promotion initiatives alongside the wider team.
15. Build and maintain strong working relationships with client managers, professionals, and external contacts.
16. Conduct regular appraisals for Occupational Health employees and ensure their training and development needs are met.
Skills & Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN; a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health is preferred.
2. Experience in a commercial Occupational Health setting, particularly in case management and health surveillance.
3. Solid knowledge of occupational health and employment legislation.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within a multidisciplinary team.
6. Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
7. Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office 365 and Teams.
8. Clear understanding of professional accountability within the scope of practice.
9. Self-motivated with a proactive attitude to work.
10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team framework.
11. Strong negotiation, motivational skills, and the ability to deliver constructive feedback.
Education & Certifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
2. Diploma in Occupational Health (preferred).
3. NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration.
