Position Summary:
The Junior HSE Advisor position is a great career development opportunity for a motivated individual that is looking for a rewarding career. The HSE Advisor will be supported, developed and will work alongside all supervisors and staff as a resource to administer programs, policies, and assessments with emphasis on continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, industry best practice, and internal health and safety management systems. The chosen candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills with the willingness to learn within the fast-paced environments of the construction industry.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Provide HSE guidance, support and oversight to the Project and its personnel.
2. Address personnel’s inquiries on HSE risks and opportunities.
3. Assist with maintenance of HSE documents and ensure timely and accurate HSE record keeping.
4. Coordinate HSE orientation and training delivery.
5. Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment.
6. Support personnel in understanding, applying and adhering to Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
7. Foster the Toolbox process and other HSE communication efforts.
8. Participate in HSE inspections and incident management, as required.
Requirements:
1. Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent preferred.
2. Environmental experience/certification is an asset.
3. Working knowledge of Provincial Health & Safety legislation and standards.
4. Prior work experience in Construction is an asset.
5. Proven ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and records.
6. Service and team-oriented leader who pays specific attention to detail.
7. Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
8. Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
9. Tact, diplomacy, flexibility, listening and persuasion skills.
10. Strong verbal and written communication skills with enthusiasm and a positive, results-focused attitude.
11. Experience with database applications and administration systems is an asset.
12. Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
13. Valid WHMIS, First Aid, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers and/or Supervisors certificates are required.
